New Road Academy offers a modern environment for students to learn in. The interior is contemporary and bright, following a full redecoration in 2024.

The academy has 54 classrooms, including specialist classrooms for Science, Design Technology, Art, Food Technology, Music and IT.

The academy’s IT was refreshed in the Summer of 2024, providing computers and laptops equipped with the latest hardware to enhance students IT experiences.

The academy is in the enviable position of having access to fantastic sports facilities. Students have access to the Oakengates Leisure Centre, which provides a full-size sports hall, swimming pool and gym. Outside is a full-size track and field area, and tennis courts. Straight from the academy’s playground is access to a full-size all weather 3G pitch.

In addition, in the summer of 2024, the acadeny’s own all weather multi games area was resurfaced.

In this digital age, the academy has maintained a fully stocked library for students to access. The library was refurbished during 2024, including the addition of a research/study area with dedicated PCs.

Performing arts are well catered for with two dedicated music rooms, sound proofed practise rooms and a recording facility. This is in addition to the theatre space with high quality sound and lighting systems, and a sprung floor dance studio.

Lettings

The academy does hire out the theatre and dance studio, available for weekend hire.

We have a number of Dance Schools who hire the facilities for their annual shows. We can also provide classroom space for troupes to gather for hair and makeup etc., prior to their performances.

As part of the hire, full lighting and sound can be supported through our specialist Performing Arts Technician.
