On Friday 17th April, staff at New Road Academy took on the 24‑Hour “Miles for Hope” Challenge, with an aim of collectively running, walking, rowing, and cycling 130 miles, and raising £300 towards the Year 11 prom and the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre.

The 130 mile goal was met by 1pm, but staff kept their commitment to 24 hours and kept going, racking up the miles and the support raised through their gofundme link and in person.

With 10 hours to go, some of the New Road Year 11 Sports Leaders popped in to boost the mileage up, running laps around the academy floors as well as helping out on the equipment.

The staff finished their challenge at 8.07am on Saturday 18th April, with a whopping 806.37 miles under their belt, and a total of £1738 raised, over £1000 of which will go towards charity.

New Road Academy would also like to thank Councillor John Thompson for the donation at the front desk on Friday towards this cause, along with donations of prom dresses.
New Road is really humbled by the support from the community, thank you to everyone who donated and supported this cause.
A massive well done to all staff involved who put their time and effort into this cause too.
