Year 11 ‘Rise & Revise’ breakfast sessions: supporting strong study habits and high achievement

Y11 Rise and Revise

New Road Academy’s Year 11 ‘Rise & Revise’ breakfast sessions have been a tremendous success since being introduced earlier this month, with students engaging in focused study as they prepare for their upcoming exams. These sessions reflect New Road’s commitment to combining high academic expectations with a supportive, structured environment.

Running from 7:45 to 8:30am, the sessions offer all Year 11 pupils a calm, purposeful space where they can revise independently, receive guidance from staff, complete coursework, and prepare mentally for the day ahead. By opening the academy doors early and providing academic support before lessons begin, pupils are supported to build the habits, confidence, and routines that underpin strong outcomes.

To help ensure students start the day ready to learn, breakfast is provided free of charge, removing barriers and ensuring every student can access the support they need. This approach embodies our belief that when we create the right conditions, clear structure, expert help, and a welcoming atmosphere, young people can rise to meet even the highest expectations.

There is no sign-up required; students simply arrive, settle in, and make the most of the time. And as an extra incentive, every day a student attends, they receive a stamp, recognising their commitment and celebrating the effort they are putting into their studies.

New Road’s ‘Rise & Revise’ sessions are more than a revision club – they are part of our wider strategy to nurture resilience, independence, and academic ambition. By encouraging students to take ownership of their learning in a supportive setting, we aim to give them every opportunity to thrive.
